Shamaujae Crockett Receives ASC Track and Field Honor

McMurry University track and field standout Shamaujae Crockett of Houston, TX was one of three War Hawks named as the American Southwest Conference Field Events "Athlete of the Week," it was announced by the league office.

Fresh off of its impressive performance at the University of Central Oklahoma Broncho Open, the McMurry University indoor track and field team earned a total of three Athlete of the Week honors from the American Southwest Conference, it was announced. Junior Shamaujae Crockett was the women's field event Athlete of the Week, while men's team members Michael Brown and Aaron Webb were recognized for track events and field events, respectively.

Crockett (Houston, Texas) posted the No. 2 height in the region and 37th-best in the nation in the high jump at the Broncho Open in Norman, Okla. She cleared 1.60 meters (5 ft.-3 in.), placing second at the event. Crockett also posted a season-best long jump of 5.08 meters (16 ft.-8 in.), tied for the 10th-best mark in the South/Southeast. She ran the second leg of the War Hawks' 4x400 meter relay which finished in 4:10.03 and placed third.

Brown (Oxnard, Calif.), a senior, won his second career Athlete of the Week award by winning the 400 meter dash in 50.46 seconds at the Broncho Open in Norman, Okla. His mark is second in the ASC and fifth in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region. Brown also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400 meter relay that won the event in 3:26.70, ranking second in the region.

Webb (Cleburne, Texas) tied with teammate Tiyoshi Hopes to win the high jump by clearing 2.00 meters (6 ft.-6.75 in.). The height ranks second in region and tied for 31st in the country. He also ran the lead leg of the 4x400 meter relay team that won the event.
