Shamaujae Crockett Earns NCCAA National Track & Field Weekly Honor

After leading the McMurry University women's team to the 2018 American Southwest Conference Track and Field championship, juniorr Shamaujae Crockett of Houston, TX has been named as the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Field Events Student-Athlete of the Week, it has been announced by the national office. Crockett was the winner of the High Point Scorer Award at the ASC championships, as well.

Crockett garnered a total of four gold and two silver medals (also placing 6th in the 200 meters at 26.38 seconds). Crockett set an ASC championship meet record in the long jump by leaping 5.99 meters. That mark is also the top long jump mark in the nation for both the NCAA Division III and the NCCAA.

Crockett also won the high jump and the 400 meters. In the high jump, she had the No. 2-ranked height in the NCCAA at 1.62 meters. She finished the 400 in a clocking of 57.96 seconds, which rates sixth among NCCAA competitors.

Her fourth gold came with the War Hawks' 4x400-meter relay team. She was the runner-up in the triple jump (10.45 meters) and with the 4x100 relay (48.93; the fifth-ranked time in the NCCAA).

"We are so proud of the thrower Alexiz has become," McM head coach Brad Parris said. "Every year she has made steady improvements and now she is one of the top discus throwers in the nation. This is a well-deserved honor for a scholar-athlete that is nowhere close to her peak yet!"
