Marcy Doty Acting in McMurry University Production of "U.S.A."

2011 Nov 4

Marcy Doty, a Senior Theatre (Acting/Directing Focus) major from Lubbock, TX will play the role of Player D/Janey Williams in the McMurry University Theatre presentation of "U.S.A." written by Paul Shyre and John Dos Passos and directed by McMurry Professor Charlie Hukill. Performances are Nov. 10-12 and Nov. 17-19 at the Amy Graves Ryan Little Theatre on the McMurry campus.

The play tells the story of J. Ward Moorehouse, born on the Fourth of July in 1901, who falls in love with a beautiful rich girl and works his way to the top of the heap. Interwoven are the headlines and the celebrities of the times: Ford, Rudolph Valentino, Eugene Debs, the Wright Brothers, Isadora Duncan, the Suffragettes, and all the rest. A striking panorama of an era that is simple in its conception and staging.

Tickets are $7 on Thursday and $10 on Friday and Saturdays. Box office is open Monday-Friday 2-6 p.m. as well as 6:30 to 8 p.m. on show nights. Call 325-793-3889 for tickets.

Come out and enjoy a great show picturing a turning point in our country's history.
