James Spivey Acting in McMurry University Production of "Horrid Massacre in Boston"

2016 Jan 19

James Spivey, from Belton, TX will act in the McMurry University Theatre presentation of Horrid Massacre in Boston by Don Nigro, directed by Charlie Hukill. The performance dates are February 18-20 and 25-27 at the Amy Graves Ryan Little Theatre on the McMurry campus.

The play tells the story of Jane Lamb, an orphan, who finds a home at Mrs. Turley's Bunch of Grapes Inn in Boston during the Revolution. The colorful, eccentric and dangerous regulars she encounters there include Christopher Rumpley, a demonic roustabout who is a patriot, a traitor or a bit of both; Ophelia, a mad girl who talks to mice, and the Oyster Man, a street vendor obsessed with the Boston Massacre where he received a wound that has scrambled his brains to an alarming degree. Jane learns a vivid lesson about the dark underside of patriotic mythology in this nightmarish world of murder, secrets, betrayal and lunacy. The play does contain some mature language and content.

The play runs February 18-20 and 25-27 with a curtain time of 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission and $8 for McMurry faculty, staff and students. Tickets can be purchased at mcm.edu/theatre or at the box office in the Ryan Fine Arts Building lobby from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
