Brianna Pina Honored by United Soccer Coaches

2017 Dec 22

McMurry women's soccer player Brianna Pina of Crowley, TX has been honored by United Soccer Coaches.

McMurry University's first-year women's soccer head coach Charles Nobles has, from the outset, stressed the importance of his program always being a positive representation of the University. Today, he added another building block to that goal as his War Hawks' squad received a Silver honor in the Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Awards, announced by the United Soccer Coaches.

In all, the USC recognized a total of 162 teams - both high school and college - from across the country for exhibiting fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game.

The Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award is given to United Soccer Coaches members at four levels. Teams honored at the platinum level went an entire season without a player or coach receiving a yellow card or red card. Teams honored at the gold (1-10%), silver (11-30%) and bronze (31-50%) levels are based on a percentage calculated by the total number of cards received by players/coaches divided by the team's total number of games played.

"What a fantastic award for our program," Nobles said. "It shows that our girls try to play the game the right way and truly honor the University with their style of play. As a program we are building a culture based on doing the right things on and off the field, winning this award is a great step in the process of what we are trying to achieve by developing champions for life. It is amazing to put our name on the map with so many great programs that won this award. "
