Bethany Everett Earns NCCAA Weekly Honor

2017 Apr 12

McMurry University sophomore Bethany Everett of Stratford, TX, has been named as the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Student-Athlete of the week for women's track and field (field events), it has been announced by the national office.

Everett, who has been having a career season for the War Hawks in 2017, had that on display last Saturday at the Angelo State David Noble Relays. Facing a field entirely comprised of NCAA Division II competitors (other than her), Everett uncorked the longest mark in the NCCAA this season in the hammer throw. Her effort of 50.52 meters was a full 13 feet further than any other NCCAA competitor this year and was her personal career best, earning her a second place in the Noble Relays field.

Everett also chalked up a personal record in the women's discus, as well, hitting 39.50 meters. Everett's discus distance moved her up to No. 5 on the NCCAA's leader board in that event, nationally.

McMurry will next be in action at its own McMurry Open on Thursday (April 13).
