McMurry University women's softball standout Adrienne Nairn of Frisco, TX has received National Christian College Athletic Association honors..

Another day means some more "firsts" for the McMurry University softball program, as more post-season accolades are announced. Juniors Rachel Ripley (Gustine, Texas/Comanche H.S.) and Adrienne Nairn (Frisco, Texas/Lone Star H.S.) are the War Hawks' most recent honorees.

Ripley - who also attended both McLennan and Cisco Junior Colleges for one year each - added to her impressive repertoire of awards from McM's inaugural softball season, by earning third team NCAA Division III All-West Region recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Ripley, a junior, posted team-leading numbers in virtually every major offensive category, topping McM in batting average (.395), hits (49), doubles (15), triples (3), home runs (6), runs batted in (88), slugging percentage (.710) and on-base average (.437). She also had a team-best 237 total chances fielding from her firstbase position. Ripley had a 17-game hitting streak to her credit. She also went three-of-four in steals, collecting 14 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games.

Ripley has, previously, been named second team All-American Southwest Conference. She was also a first team NCCAA All-Central Region pick.

Nairn - a transfer from North Central Texas College - became McMurry's first-ever player to receive national academic recognition, as she was named as a 2018 Scholar-Athlete by the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). NCCAA Scholar-Athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and completed at least one term at the institution. In addition to being a letterwinner on their team, each recipient must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 on a 4.00 scale. Nairn is a business management major.

Nairn started all 40 games for McM head coach David McNally at the "hot corner," with 145 total chances. At the plate, Nairn hit .225 and was second on the team by drawing 10 walks. She also had four sacrifices, was hit by a pitch three times and drove in eight runs.
